Drugs, theft and erratic driving in a busy weekend for police

By Jessica Anstice

Cardinia Shire police had a full on weekend arresting and charging people who were caught doing the wrong things.

A number of offenders were remanded into custody for crimes including aggravated burglary, drug possession, erratic driving, stealing vehicles and bail offences on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August.

Each of the seven offenders were issued with a fine for breaching the Chief Health Officer’s current coronavirus restrictions.

During the early hours of Saturday morning, police officers were alerted of a truck driving erratically outbound on the Monash Freeway.

Police were quick to attend and locate the offending truck on Bridge Road in Officer.

The truck driver recorded an evidentiary breath test reading of 0.187 and his driver’s licence was immediately suspended.

He will be receiving a summons to attend court at a later date for drink driving, along with several other traffic offences.
