A drunk and drugged learner driver who was behind the wheel without a supervisor, was intercepted by police in Officer.

Officers from Cardinia Highway Patrol stopped the white Holden Commodore at the entrance to the Princes Highway in Officer about 5.56pm on Thursday 30 July.

After speaking to the 28-year-old Narre Warren man, it was revealed that he only held a learners permit.

On closer inspection, the driver was also required to be driving a vehicle fitted with an alcohol interlock device – in which case, he did not have.

The man then returned a positive breath test before he was conveyed to the Pakenham Police Station.

At the station he returned a positive evidentiary breath test of 0.046.

The offender then underwent a drug test, returning a positive result for cannabis.

He is expected to be charged for drink and drug driving, breaching an alcohol interlock condition and numerous learner driving offences.
