A small cleaning business, owned by a Beaconsfield man, has been recognised as one of Australia and New Zealand’s Most Innovative Companies.

Cleaning Edge Solutions, an industrial and commercial cleaning company owned by resident Clayburn Figredo, was listed in the prestigious annual list published by the Australian Financial Review and Boss Magazine.

It is the first time a small business cleaning company has joined the ranks of the top 100 companies, often dominated by large industry players.

The list is based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia’s leading innovation consultancy, Inventium, in conjunction with a panel of industry expert judges.

Specifically, the judges look at how valuable the problem is that the innovation is solving, the quality and uniqueness of the solution, and the level of impact that the innovation has had.

Founder and managing director, Mr Figredo, said his business was honoured to place top 10 on the Property, Construction and Transport Companies list, from over 600 nominated organisations across both countries.

“Innovation is key,” he said.

“As a cleaning company, you clean. That’s basic.

“But to deliver consistent, high quality service, particularly in high-risk enterprises such as food and healthcare, it is critical to develop excellent systems that ensure precision and accountability.”

As Mr Figredo explained, his cleaning company was built on the principles of transparency, years before Covid hit.

“All documents related to on-site members, completed training, completed work, reports, dates and multi-channel communication – my vision was to make them easily available to all stakeholders, including our onsite team, management team and clients’ team,” he said.

“Technology and innovation have allowed us to achieve that.

“At any time of the day, you can conduct an audit on any site or individual, in real time.”

Now in a pandemic, when transparency is critical to enterprises in managing risk, the company systems have already been in place for several years, so clients can easily monitor operations and compliance within seconds online, with the tap of a few keys, 24/7.

“And with a large multicultural workforce, our communication spans 100 languages, so there’s no barrier to comprehension,” he added.

“I am so proud of our entire team. This accolade is a tribute to our collective efforts.”
