A police investigation is now underway after a man was found at Fountain Gate shopping centre with a gunshot wound.
Armed Crime Squad detectives are now piecing together the circumstances surrounding an alleged shooting, which occurred on Saturday night, 19 December.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was found in the carpark of Westfield Fountain Gate at about 9.50pm.
He had suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, police said.
It’s not yet known if police are searching for anyone in relation to the alleged incident.
“The exact circumstances of the incident are unknown and the investigation is ongoing,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said in a statement.
