Probationary constable charged

The 25 year-old trainee has been charged by police following the incident.

A probationary constable from Victoria Police’s southern metro region has been charged and suspended following a recent internal investigation.

The 25 year-old male constable has been charged with three counts of unauthorised disclosure of police information, after allegedly taking and sharing a video on social media whilst on duty.

It is alleged that the probationary constable, who was a trainee at the time of the incident, recorded a short video of an intercepted car in Beaconsfield in April 2020, before sharing it to a closed group on social media.

He has now been suspended and is expected to be summoned to appear at court at a later date.
