Children at Lang Lang Primary School are reaping the benefits of a $1.54 million upgrade completed at the start of 2022.

A special assembly was recently held at the school to mark the occasion, joined by representatives from the local community.

Principal Sharon Mitchell said works to improve the school’s facilities were vital as the school community continues to grow.

“Works began midway through 2021 and we were able to move students in on the first day of school this year,“ she said.

“We received advice about funding in 2018 but due to Covid-19 the building process started to 2021.

“We’re relieved and extremely grateful at its completion, it’s turned out to be as we imagined and certainly something our school community is proud of.

“It’s enabled us to provide a modern learning environment which and this new space allows us to work in a collaborative way.“

The funding has transformed classrooms, providing new learning environments, break out areas, kitchen facilities and landscaped areas to help students achieve their best.

Bass MP Jordan Crugnale said the school was at the heart of the community.

“We promised an upgrade for Lang Lang Primary School and we delivered the $1.54 million upgrade and to see the smile on the kids faces has made it all worthwhile,“ she said.

“The school community fought hard for this to ensure that their students have access to modern learning environments that support the teaching and learning programs and collaborative practices.

“I also want to say a special thank you to the Bendigo Community Bank, rotary and lions clubs, the local community op-chop and Westernport Landcare who joined us on this special day and to all the local organisations and businesses that at every turn are there to support the school and community.”

Works were completed by Ardent Architects and builders Roubaix Projects.

The school will also receive a $360,000 refurbishment of its bathrooms this year through the Minor Capital Works grant program.

In the last seven years the Victorian Government has invested $10.9 billion in building and upgrading schools, creating 13,500 jobs.
