Cardinia Shire Council has begun a modernisation program of several of its core business systems to help council staff make better, more data-driven decisions and improve the way the council engages with residents.

Cardinia is one of the state’s fastest-growing municipalities.

Council chief executive officer Carol Jeffs said the team was “immensely proud” to support a growing, diverse community, and one so many people want to move to be part of, but “we need to ensure we are set up to support this growth”.

“Last year Cardinia Shire saw a 2.4 per cent increase in the number of rateable properties. At the same time, we’ve committed to delivering a $99 million capital works program in 2022-23, with another $219 million earmarked up until 2025-26,” Ms Jeffs said.

“With all this growth, we knew we needed to have the right modern technology and platforms in place to make data-driven decisions and to ensure every dollar is going to helping and supporting the community in a sustainable way.”

To support its rapid growth, the council has turned to a new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution from TechnologyOne.

“TechnologyOne is well known and trusted, and their OneCouncil solution has what we need to help us meet our goals. This is an exciting move for the community and our dedicated team,” Ms Jeffs said.

TechnologyOne chief executive offer Ed Chung said he was thrilled to partner with Cardinia Shire Council, commending the leadership for their bold, modernisation plans.

“I’m particularly excited to see that Cardinia will be transitioning directly to the very latest SaaS technology which will see them implementing the industry-leading solution with all the modern next-gen and customer experience features” Mr Chung said.

“As a council which prioritises and actively encourages community engagement in its decision making, some of the community-facing services available through TechnologyOne will be really exciting for Cardinia. We’re excited to be involved.”
