At 94 years of age, Pakenham’s Phyllis Goldsack (née Monckton) said playing on game show Deal or No Deal was among the three things she would never forget, alongside her wedding and holding her children for the first time.

As one of the oldest competitors across the world, she said she was grateful to have the experience and take home a deal of $9255.

Mrs Goldsack said her daughter Maree applied for both of them to attend the show and go in the running for the top prize of $100,000.

“I had a wonderful time,“ she said.

Mrs Goldsack said host Grant Denyer and the entire team behind the production were kind to her during the taping and she even sent them a card afterwards.

“He’s a nice young boy,“ she said.

“The manager and the crew were absolutely fantastic.

“They treated me with the utmost respect.“

Picking case number 13 because Mrs Goldsack daughter parked in Bay 13 when they arrived for the episode taping, high-level amounts of $50,000 and $75,000 were selected, leaving her with a first bank offer of $1511.

She turned down an offer of $2329, before the $100,000 fell off the board.

“I picked the wrong cases,“ Mrs Goldsack said.

Grant then got on a call with ’The Banker’ asking if he could give Mrs Goldsack a bit of a pick-me-up.

He then asked her if her husband ever sang to her, with the answer being that he only ever sang one song: ’You Are My Sunshine’.

The whole audience joined Grant in singing the song to Mrs Goldsack before giving her $800 in cash, before ’The Banker’ offered her $1001.

She refused further bank offers of $2180 and $5500, before taking the $9255 deal with $50, $10,000 and $20,000 still on the board.

Mrs Goldsack said while she would be splitting her winnings with her daughter, one of the first things she would spend the money on was a trip to Wings and Fins Seafood Bar and Restaurant in Tooradin.

“I’m going to buy myself a crayfish,“ she said.

Mrs Goldsack and Grant also shared a cup of tea during the episode, with the pair sharing a giggle at the sub-par cuppa.

She said the experience was something she would not forget.

“When you get to my age, you don’t have many exciting things to do,“ Mrs Goldsack said.

“Then you get something like this, and if I don’t last 95, I don’t care, I’ve had this.

“If anybody gets a chance to go on it, grab it with both hands.“
