Golf day raises record $35,000

This year’s Bendigo Community Bank’s Annual Charity Golf Day has raised a record $35,000 for West Gippsland Hospital and the Warragul and District Specialist School.

The event, in its ninth year, took place at the Warragul Country Golf Club on Friday 23 February.

This year’s Bendigo Community Bank’s Annual Charity Golf Day had a new-look which saw teams tee off at 12.30pm followed by a two-course dinner, golf presentations, major auction, community raffle draw and a special performance by local musician Luke Matthews who donated his time to be at our event on Friday night.

This charity golf day is organised through a partnership between Bendigo Community Bank branches of Drouin, Neerim and Trafalgar and the Warragul Country Club – the official event host and supporting event partner.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group Board Chair Jo-Anne Moorfoot thanked the community for their generosity.

Long disruptions

Minister for Transport Infrastructure Danny Pearson announced buses will replace trains on sections of the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Gippsland lines at various times throughout March, April and May as testing ramps up for the Metro Tunnel.

On the Pakenham line, construction will continue on the new premium stations at Pakenham and Pakenham East, and a new Narre Warren Station set to open in late March.

There will also be road and rail disruptions on sections of the Belgrave and Lilydale line until late March, as crews work to remove the Bedford Road, Ringwood level crossing.

The West Gate Tunnel Project will start work on a 2.5-kilometre elevated veloway along Footscray Road to create a safe and easier passage for cyclists to and from the city, which will involve lane closures until mid-2024.

There will be further disruptions on the West Gate Freeway during March and April for asphalting works and the installation of overhead signage.

There will be disruptions as part of the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road Upgrade, and overnight closures on the Princes Freeway inbound and outbound between the Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road freeway ramps for the Pakenham Roads Upgrade.

Low-cost vaccination

RSPCA Victoria is excited to offer two low-cost pet vaccination days to locals starting in Nar Nar Goon on 21 March.

The clinics, run by an RSPCA Victoria vet, are aimed at making veterinary care more accessible for people and their pets.

– Nar Nar Goon, Thursday 21 March at the Nar Nar Goon Scout Hall

– Rowville, Thursday 4 April at the 1st Rowville Scout Hall

The clinics, run by an RSPCA Victoria vet, are aimed at making veterinary care more accessible for people and their pets, during the cost-of living crisis.

Speaking about the clinics, Rebecca Cook, Head of Prevention for RSPCA Victoria, said they were looking forward to helping more Melbourne pet owners.

Appointments at the clinics must be booked online in advance with limited places available. Those with more than one pet must book a separate appointment for each animal.

For $59.00, a dog or cat will receive their preventative vaccines and be checked by an RSPCA veterinarian to ensure they are fit for their vaccinations.

Note: due to nation-wide shortages of the F3 vaccine, the team are currently unable to vaccinate cats, however, can still do basic health checks.

Pet owners can also receive professional advice on how to keep them healthy now and into the future.
