Preview

Rutter Park will host a D Grade local derby on Saturday when Devon Meadows takes the short drive down the South Gippsland Highway to take on grand final opponent Tooradin.

The Seagulls have been superb this season, brilliantly led by skipper Kane Latham who has been at his dominant best.

Latham needs just seven runs to crack the magical 500-run barrier this season, while Shaun Tongue and Shannon Warn have been more than able allies. The bowling of Brock Goldberg and the all-round ability and experience of Glenn Michie will be other important factors as this one comes to a close.

The Panthers are playing some great cricket at the moment and chasing down 185 last week shows they’re not afraid of playing shots under pressure. Dave Fisher starred with bat and ball last week, while skipper Luke Martin, Ethan Wood and Harry Spierings were also impressive performers.

The Panthers leading wicket taker, Rob Worsteling, was denied in the preliminary final but with 24 wickets to his name could break this one wide open.

You just get a special feeling about some games…and this is one of them.

The two skippers, Latham and Martin, hold the keys to success.

Latham can take the game away, while if the Panthers are chasing a gettable score, Martin will be the top prize.

In a thriller…it’s the Seagulls to win the premiership.
