An E Grade season that looked all one-way traffic has all of a sudden got interesting with Pakenham hosting a red-hot Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll in the grand final at Toomuc Reserve.
The Lions have been simply magnificent this season, hardly challenged, but when it did come to the crunch and they needed to deliver against Emerald – with their backs to the wall in the semi – they delivered in spades.
Up stepped the big guns with Dale McCraw, Terry Smith and Zac Downes showing they have an extra gear to call on.
The Lions opponent this week, the Marygoons, have been in terrific form…well two players have been, and that’s the big question heading in.
Can Russell Perry and Brandon Interlandi continue to bat the house down, or will McCraw and David Searle rip through the Goons’ top-order and we have a different looking ball-game?
Hopefully players like Greg Interlandi, Brendan Kroon and Jake Caisley have been substituting centre-wicket form for some lengthy time in the nets!
The Goon will provide a challenge but this Pakenham team has some special motivation, built up over a very long period of time with some great mates keen to experience the best feeling that a sporting contest can deliver.
