Kougar crushes them at Deep Creek

DEEP CREEK GOLF CLUB

Lovely weather and a beautifully manicured golf course greeted golfers for a stableford competition at Deep Creek Golf Club on Saturday.

A total of 15 golfers had acceptable days at the office…playing to their handicaps or better.

Tim Pratt (9) won A Grade with a terrific score of 39 points, finishing three clear of Scott Irwin (12) on 36.

Kougar Lloyd (21) signed off on the equal best round of the day, carding 40 points to win B Grade by one point from Geoff Percival (13) on 39 points.

Michael Banger (25) also scored 40 points to win C Grade, with Brenton Hollingworth (26) two points adrift on 38 points.

Some great rounds of golf only won balls down the line with Noel Boyd on 39 points, and Mick Boyd, Brian Webster, Delanie Lewis and Marcus Cameron on 38 points unlucky not to have secured bigger prizes.

Other balls down the line went to Julie Cheng, John Wilson, John Curtin and Brett McGee with 36 points, and to Nick Gray, Suzanne Van Strien, Craig Clissold, Michael Anlanger, Alex Blanck, Stephen Northcott, David Leek, Andrew Heagney, Colin Maclean, Peter Reilly and Tom Marshall with 35 points.

Nearest the pins went to 2nd Hole: Noel Boyd (1.81m) and 16th Hole: Tim Pratt (0.94m).

Easter Cup: Round 1 Leaders: Kougar Lloyd and Michael Banger 40 points.

Round two of the Easter Cup took place on Sunday with Craig Clissold (14) having a day out, scoring 41 points to win the daily competition by four shots from Brett Nowlan (14) on 37 points.

Down the lines went to Ray Hewitt, Leon Mateariki and Alex Blanck with 36 points.

Tony Gray provided a highlight by having an eagle on the par-five 15th hole.

Easter Cup: Round 2 Leaders: Craig Clissold 76, Kougar Lloyd 73 and Alex Blanck 71 points.

A great week of golf started on Monday, 11 April when Kougar Lloyd (22) scored 39 points to defeat runner-up John Piggott (24) with 37 points.

Down the lines went to Harry Bolotin, Kelsey Davies and Phillip Mott 37, Leon Mateariki 36, Tom Reid and Frankie Chiu 35, Jimmy Pari 34 and to Kay Jones, Tom Marshall and Gordon Edwards with 33 points.

Nearest the pins went to 2nd Hole: Chris Dalton (1.50m) and to Pat Ellerton who had a hole-in-one on the par-three 16th. Congratulations Pat on a wonderful achievement.

Wednesday’s stableford competition was a hard-fought affair with A Grade being won on a countback.

Heath Barclay (7) secured the win with 37 points with runner up Rex Ryan (20) on the same score.

Gordon Edwards (23) won B Grade with 39 points and two clear of his nearest pursuer in Kelsey Davies (33).

Down the lines went to Colin Maclean and Leon Mateariki on 37, Ted Schreuder and Roger Parker 36, Colin Crowle, Rex Jobling and Scott Irwin 35, and to Phillip Tunstall, Royce Thompson, Michael Banger, Neville Taylor, Murray O’Dwyer and Steve Smith with 34 points.

The Supercomp Back 9 winner was Colin Crowle with 21 points with nearest the pins going to: 2nd Hole: William Carmichael (3.10m) and 16th Hole: Murray O’Dwyer (0.20m).

The ladies teed it up on Thursday with Delanie Lewis (13) continuing her solid recent form to score 35 points and win by one shot from Sue Nelson (41) on 34 points.

Down the lines went to Julie Cheng and Shirley McGrath on 34 points with nearest the pin (second shot) going to Delanie Lewis (1.63m) on the 16th.

And a visitor to the club, Jesse Pari (31), took out the Good Friday event with 37 points to win by one from Bobby Edwards (16).

Down the lines went to Sidarth Umesh (v) on 36, and to Anthony Kemsley, Heath Barclay, Glenn Sheridan (v), Glenn Rees and Stephen Van Ingen on 34 points.
