Annual tournament hits Drouin

Drouin Golf Club held a Men’s Stroke Event on Saturday which was played as part of the club’s Annual Tournament.

Clear, sunny skies and no wind greeted the 74 players who teed it up.

The A Graders played 36 holes with Ryan Hammond winning the scratch competition with a score of 147, while Chad McKie won the handicap event with a nett 148.

The morning 18-hole competition was won by Shane Dwyer with a nett 69 and Shane Davidson was the best of the afternoon groupings with a nett 73.

B Grade was played over 27 holes with Glenn Robinson taking out both the scratch and handicap competitions with 131 off the stick and a nett 104.

The morning 18-hole competition was won by Glenn Robinson with a nett 69 and the nine-hole afternoon competition was won by Geoff Closter with a nett 35.

C Grade was played over 18 holes with Chris Stoker winning the scratch event with 93 and Michael Duddy winning the handicap with a nett 76. The best outward nine went to Dave Axford and best Inward nine went to Chris Stoker.

Down the lines for the day went to Stuart Low, Chris Perry, Stephen Bethune, Wayne Robbins, Connor Jeffries, Ken Cooper and Craig Armstrong.

Nearest the pins went to Shane Dehaan 5th, Grant McKay 8th, Gary Florence 10th and Brian Seers 14th.

Wednesday

The Annual Tournament kicked off on Wednesday with the Men’s Stableford Event.

A field of 54 players took part with Mick Santo winning A Grade with 39 points on a count back from Ray Haley.

B Grade was won by Brian Maunder with 35 points with Graham Rawson finishing runner up with 34 points.

Down the lines went to Roger Crow, Allan Logan, Glenn Vanderlight, Craig Armstrong, Peter Downward and Chris Perry.

Nearest the pins went to: Darren Arnott 8th and Craig Armstrong 14th.

Thursday

Thursday was the second day of the Annual Tournament with a Four-Ball Best Ball competition being played.

The winners for the day were Grant Williams and James McMahon finishing with 46 points. Runners up were Paul Barratt and Craig Cousin with 45 points on a count back.

LADIES

The Drouin Ladies Individual Stableford event scheduled for Tuesday was unfortunately cancelled due to the inclement weather.

Fortunately, the weather improved for the commencement of the Drouin Annual Tournament, kindly sponsored by Clarks Screens and Blinds.

The Ladies Stroke event was won by Leanne Pollard (11) with a nett 74.

The Ladies 4BBB was held on Thursday with Sharon Rippon (17) from Drouin and Bronwyn Wallace (19) from Trafalgar firing 43 points. Runners up were Judy Dixon (18) and Helen Moon (27) – both from Drouin – with 36 points.

The final event of the tournament, the Mixed Canadian foursomes, was played yesterday.

Drouin’s Ladies Pennant teams are yet to score a win.

Both the Sunday and Monday teams both went down to Traralgon in round two but are sure to bounce back in round three.

Saturday Ladies played a Stableford event and the winner was Vanessa Campbell (27) with 36 points.

Today is the Anthony Bambridge 4BBB Annual Ladies event.

The competitions for the upcoming week are Stableford for both Wednesday and Saturday.
