Three key ingredients made it a day to remember for the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group on Thursday.

Glorious weather, magnificent rinks and wonderful people were the story of the day at Lang Lang Bowls Club.

A rock-solid turnout of 29 players lobbed on the doorstep of Lang Lang to battle it out for the privilege of being a member of the team of the week.

Lang Lang made sure that the group was presented with spring weather in the middle of August which was welcomed by one and all.

Maryanne greeted everyone and looked after the bar all day for us.

She is always a welcome sight for all our bowlers.

Out on the green there was quite a bit of laughter from all corners as well as the usual banter from players.

Some great bowling was the order of the day.

A couple of ‘wild’ shots were also seen but that did not detract from the quality of play.

As always, the day is about winning, and today’s winning teams are as follows.

Winners on a score of 36 points were Michael Dady (S), Laurie Bell (3) and Marites (Mae) Soledad (L).

Runners up on 35 points were Vern Elliott (S), John Williams (3), Mark Andreatta (2) and Michael Saunders (L).

The best One Game winners on 27 points were Peter Borradale (S), Terry Floyd (3) and Shirl Corcoran (L).

We would like to thank Peter and Pauline for all their hard work, and also to John for his Master of Ceremonies work each week.

A big thank you to everyone who set up and cleared up the rink, and for all those who cleaned up the kitchen and the clubhouse after the game. The work these people do is very much appreciated.

This week the group will head to Corinella and everyone looks forward to seeing them beat Lang Lang with the weather that they provide.

All joking aside, please be at the clubhouse by 10am to allow Peter time to prepare the teams.

We look forward to seeing everyone there but, meanwhile, have a great week.
