Cavanagh class shines through

Beautiful conditions greeted golfers at Drouin Golf and Country Club on Saturday with a strong field of 123 players facing the starter for a stableford competition.

Dave Cavanagh continued his good form from last week, again finishing at the top of A Grade with 39 points, while Matt Long was the runner up with 38 points.

In B Grade John Hutcheon was the winner with 36 points, two points clear of runner up Darryl Bryce with 34 points.

Rob North claimed the win in C Grade with 38 points, while Garry Burns finished runner up on a countback with 35 points.

It was father like son with Jensen Cavanagh also continuing his good form from last week, winning D Grade comfortably with 42 points, with runner up Mike Duddy five shots back on 37 points.

The Super Six winner for the day was Geoff Percival with 15 points on a countback.

The Autumn Amble winner was Jensen Cavanagh with scores of 40 and 42 over the last two Saturday’s to win by three shots over his father Dave.

Down the lines went to Ricky Davies 35, Michael Smith 35, Dean Jones 35, Luke Smith 35, Glenn Rees 33, Pete Downward 33, Richard Ford 33, Ross Tomlinson 33, Allan Logan 33, Paul Timewell 33, Fred Roknic 33, James Wagner 33, Mark Stewart 33, Rob Frederickson 33, Shane Dwyer 33, Paul Barratt 32 and Scott Green 32.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Ricky Davies (Commercial Hotel), 8th Mitch DeWit (Sharkey’s Barbershop), 10th Ricky Davies and 14th Jarryd Leaworthy (Pro Pin).

Target Hole on the 18th was won by Geoff Percival.

Wednesday

The midweek competition last week was Stableford.

Simon Caygill led A Grade with 38 points, while Mark Klaver finished runner up on a countback with 37 points.

B Grade was won by John Banfield with 34 points, while Ross Stewart was the runner up with 33 points in a four-way countback.

In C Grade it was Aaron Parsons who won with 38 points ahead of runner up Philip Oakes who had 37 points on a countback.

John Wolswinkel was the winner of the Super Six with 15 points.

Down the lines went to John Wolswinkel 37, Darren Hayes 37, Charlie Hardy 36, Michael Herman 36, Dave Cavanagh 36, Vince Cappola 36, Bruce Page 35, Ryan Mortimer 35 and Timothy Kofoed 35.

Nearest the pins went to 5th John White, 8th Mark Klaver, 10th Richard Sheehan and 14th Dave Ferguson.

Pennant

Congratulations to Drouin’s men’s three Pennant teams who have successfully made the semi-finals. Any members, family or friends who would like to come and support our players are more than welcome.

The Scratch team is playing at Morwell starting at 9:30am, while both Handicap teams are playing at Trafalgar with Handicap 2 starting at 9am followed by Handicap 1 at 9:45am.
