By RUSSELL BENNETT
FORMER St Kilda star Aussie Jones has named a 63-man preliminary Ellinbank and District Football League (EDFL) interleague squad to take on the Southern Football League on Saturday 21 May.
Jones, who most recently held a match-day role at Cora Lynn in the club’s second successive premiership last season, will again coach the EDFL side after leading it to a resounding victory away against Maryborough Castlemaine last year.
Many of those players have been selected once again, with Cobras midfield champion Ricky Clark, Warragul Industrials centreman Tye Holland, Kooweerup on-baller Tim Miller and Buln Buln ruckman Matt Gray among them.
This year’s initial list is a who’s who of the EDFL’s finest, with Neerim Neerim South gun Chris Urie, Dusties player-coach Shane Brewster, and Kooweerup trio Mitch and David Collins and Ben Kerrigan all among the selections.
Pick up a copy of next week’s Gazette for Jones’ take on the initial squad, as well as comments from SFL coach Ben Lockwood.
