CARDINIA Highway Patrol caught a 34-year-old driver speeding almost 100km/h over the speed limit on the Princes Highway on the weekend.
The Tynong North man was detected travelling east on the Princes Highway, Pakenham, at 195km/h in a 100km/h zone at 8.10pm on Saturday 18 June.
He sped through a red light at Racecourse Road before being intercepted by police between Ryan Road and Mount Ararat Road.
“I think he was very lucky he didn’t cause an accident,” Leading Senior Constable Anthony Templar said.
Police also found a small quantity of cannabis in the man’s possession.
The 34-year-old man, who refused to give police his name and address, was arrested and charged on summons for numerous traffic-related offences including exceeding 100km/h, speeding dangerously, driving unregistered, driving without a licence, disobeying red lights and displaying false licence plates.
His vehicle was impounded for $972 for 30 days.
