Bands better get into FreeZA quick

CARDINIA Shire Council’s FReeZA Committee, Electric Productions, is putting out the final call for local bands to participate in the 2010 Cardinia Shire’s Push Start Battle of the Bands.
Young people aged between 14 and 21 years of age who have strong links to the shire are eligible to enter their band.
Youth services officer, Carrolyn Agius said more than 250 young people watched eight acts battle it out in 2009.
“The committee are very impressed with the quality of the applications received so far for this year’s event,” Ms Agius said.
“This competition provides up and coming young musicians in the shire the opportunity to play in front of a live audience and expose their band locally.”
Winners this year also have the chance to play at the regional finals, where the chosen winner will then go on to compete at the Push Over Festival in 2011.
Artists can enter by downloading an application form from www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/youth or www.myspace.com/cardiniafreeza.
Bands can send their application, demo and bio to Youth Services, Battle of the Bands, PO Box 7, Pakenham, 3810.
Applications close Monday 17 May 2010.
