BENT on one knee, Daniel made history at an Officer winery last month when he proposed to his soon-to-be bride, Belinda.
D’Angelo Estate Vineyard joined in celebration with the Officer man who was the first person to pop the question onsite.
“Congratulations Belinda and Daniel, it was our pleasure to have your proposal in our vineyard. You both make a lovely couple,” the vineyard wrote on the Facebook page of the Saturday 25 October proposal.
Daniel said it was love at first sight for him, who spotted Belinda at a Blue Light Disco in Berwick when he was in Year 8.
But the pair, who each went to single sex schools, did not get together until a year-and-a-half ago.
“I just thought she was the most beautiful thing in the world, but I was scared to talk to her and ask her out … I could never build up the courage.
“Our paths crossed throughout the years, but last year ended up seeing her out and I wasn’t going to take no for an answer,” Daniel said.
Belinda said the surprise proposal was one to remember.
“A huge thank you to the amazing owners and staff at D’Angelo Winery for making our engagement such a special day! I couldn’t think of a more perfect place to be proposed to and your amazing staff made our day extra special. Thank you,” she said.
Daniel said the winery was very accommodating in preparation for the big day.
“I went to the winery a month before popping the question. They let me set up in the vineyard and have a guy come with his guitar to play her favourite song. Our family arrived afterwards and made it a really special day,” he said.
Daniel said they hope to revisit the Officer winery for their engagement party while their wedding plans are already underway.
