Barking resident on a prune promise

NEARLY 10 months after his initial request, a Berwick man is still waiting on the City of Casey to give him a much needed chop out.
Kemel Misken, who has lived at his Edward Court property for 17 years, said he first asked the council to prune a tree on the nature strip of his property on 13 February.
He said low hanging and falling branches, and the fact the tree was on a slope, had made it difficult to mow the lawn.
And with a bad back, Mr Misken has been far from happy.
“I’ve fallen five times mowing the lawn, it can be very slippery,” he said.
“I have been ringing council for a long time about this. I made contact three times in February, and in May and in July, and still I wait.
“I pay $2100 each year in rates and what do I get in return?
“I see trees regularly maintained in the area but I seem to be missing out.
“I was eventually promised the job would be done this month but I am still waiting.”
However the City of Casey said Mr Misken’s wait would soon be over.
City of Casey Manager Parks and Reserves Trevor Griffin said the council had received requests for a tree to be pruned at Edward Court.
“Council has advised that the tree will be pruned as part of council’s regular maintenance program for street trees which is scheduled to occur in November,” he said.
“Council will ensure the pruning takes place before the end of November.”
