Mysterious orange plume

By BEN CAMERON

CARDINIA Shire Council has assured Mr Thompson it has been thorough in its investigations of an apparent orange plume which hovered above his property 18 months ago.
Mr Thompson is desperate for council to lobby government agencies to inspect his property and peruse the results of medical tests which he claims proves he, his daughter and a friend were poisoned by the “once-off event”.
However Council General Manager Planning and Development Phil Walton said at a regular council meeting last month it had conducted an extensive investigation, consulting local police, the Department of Environment and Primary Industries, local aerial sprayers, the CFA and the SES.
“There were no other reports of unusual events at the time,” he said.
“The EPA has advised it will not consider providing further assistance unless there is medical evidence of exposure to a specific substance.
“Council’s environmental health officer has conducted an extensive investigation of the possible causes of the orange plume.
“Council’s environmental health officer has followed up all reasonable lines of investigation and there is not sufficient evidence to determine the origin or nature of the reported orange plume or whether it is related or not to your health concerns.
“As such council will not be undertaking further investigations on this matter.”
