MITRE 10 Mega Pakenham’s team member Jess Kufner, 24, is shedding her shoulder length locks for a cause close to her heart.
Her fiance’s mother has had leukaemia for a few months, motivating Jess to sign up for the World’s Greatest Shave.
“She is my inspiration, I’ve always wanted to do it and tick it off my bucket list,” Jess said.
Jess will be undergoing the transformation and raising awareness for the disease on Sunday 15 March at Mitre 10 Mega, 58 Bald Hill Road, Pakenham.
Jess isn’t fazed by the shave and unduly worried about the length of her hair even though she will be walking down the aisle on Saturday 27 February 2016.
“I’m a bit excited, I really don’t care about losing my hair, I’m happy to do it for a good cause,” Jess said.
“Every person I talk to knows someone or has some sort of connection with leukaemia, it doesn’t discriminate,” Jess said.
According to the Leukaemia Foundation of Australia, someone in Australia is diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma every 46 minutes.
There will be a fund-raising barbecue set up on the day and the chance to watch the shave in action.
Jess is not looking for sponsors, but donations of any amount is welcome.
Customers can contribute to the cause at any cash register on the day.
