WORKSAFE Victoria will continue to investigate a roof collapse and subsequent internal ceiling audit at Pakenham Marketplace nearly four months after an elderly man was injured in the freak accident.
The 73-year-old Pakenham man was taken to hospital for observation after the ceiling caved in at the Four Seasons Cafe around 8am on 21 October.
Centre manager Rebecca Owen said an internal audit of the centre’s ceilings found no concerns.
“As a result of the WorkSafe attendance at the site, a thorough inspection was undertaken which found the centre ceilings are in good condition,” she said.
The Gazette understands WorkSafe will meet with centre staff in coming weeks over the matter.
A WorkSafe Victoria spokeswoman could not say when an official finding would be handed down.
“WorkSafe Victoria’s inquiries into the matter remain ongoing,” she said.
