YAKKERBOO Festival’s 39th annual Art Show is sure to stun gallery-goers with the addition of a special creative category with a twist.
Traditional and contemporary fine art will be on display for the inaugural competition, which will make for a hard task for judges John Irving from Beaconhills Christian College and Sarah Dugdale from The City of Greater Dandenong.
President of the Yakkerboo Art Show committee Jillian Ronald said there were a number of categories for local artists to enter, including a wearable art display and parade.
“We think art should be fun, diverse and part of everyday life. We are excited to celebrate art in the form of wearable art,” she said.
The wearable art parade will be judged by Cardinia Shire Mayor Leticia Wilmot and photographer Angela Basdekis at the opening parade on Friday 29 May at 7.30pm.
“If you have your own piece of wearable art and you’re not sure where you could wear it, this is the place,” Ms Ronald said.
Artists will win up to $7000 in prizes in categories including the People’s Choice Award and Youth Artist Award.
The art show will be held from Friday 29 May until Sunday 31 May at Pakenham Hall. Entries cost $10.
