Signs of faded glory

The SES sign is on borrowed time. 138388

IT COULD be a sign of the respective funding situation of each emergency service branch.
The respective logos outside the multi-service complex in Pakenham seem to be in very different states of decay.
The Victoria Police logo on top of the sign is looking like it was put on yesterday, with no sign of wear or tear.
The CFA is losing its fire engine red colour and has taken on a more pinkish hue, with visible signs of fraying at the bottom.
It’s a real emergency for the SES, however, with its sign looking like it could blow away on the next windy day.
The eight orange chequer stickers have faded to the colour of an overcooked egg yolk and don’t do justice to the bright livery that would normally do a Northern Ireland Protestant proud.
Let’s hope the recent news of council cutting its funding support for the SES’s insurance won’t mean the sign disappears completely.
