Assault charges laid

TWO Lang Lang men will face court after being arrested and charged over a serious assault last month.
On Saturday 23 May, a 45-year-old Lang Lang man was attacked after leaving the Lang Lang Football Club in Westernport Road.
Police arrested and charged two Lang Lang men in their mid-thirties over their alleged assault, and both will face court at a later date.

POLICE are investigating the circumstances of a fire that occurred over the weekend, where a tow truck in Pakenham was set alight.
Emerald Police Sergeant David Calkin said police attended a truck storage yard in Mary Street, Pakenham, on Saturday 30 May, where a tow truck had been set alight in the night.
Sgt Calkin said an unknown person had set fire to the truck, causing $3000 worth of damage to the vehicle.
Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit is investigating the incident, and anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
Roo killed in cruel fashion
EMERALD Police are searching for information about an animal cruelty incident last week, where a kangaroo was shot with an arrow in the Cardinia Reservoir.
Sergeant David Calkin said that at 12.15pm on Friday 29 May, police found a dead kangaroo at the reservoir. It had been shot and killed by a hunting arrow.
He said that the animal was likely shot the night before, and that its tail had been cut off.
“People shooting hunting arrows don’t tend to get a clean kill, and this wasn’t a clean kill,” he said.
Sgt Calkin said the shooter faced a string of charges, including hunting in the reservoir, trespassing and aggravated cruelty to animals.

Weapons, drugs found in car
A BORONIA man will front court later in the year after weapons and drugs were found in a car in Emerald last week.
Emerald Police Sergeant David Calkin said that during a routine intercept on Duffy’s Road, Emerald, at7.40am on Friday 29 May, a 25-year-old Boronia man was found to be carrying a knife, a gas-powered handgun, cash and ice (crystal methamphetamine).
The man was arrested and has been bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Power tools stolen
SEVERAL thousands worth of power tools have been stolen from an industrial site in Garfield.
Between 10am on Saturday 23 May and 7am on Monday 25 May, a shipping container located at Garfield Sawmill was forced open.
Police said around $10,000 worth of power tools, including angle grinders, saws and power drills were taken from the locked container.
Thieves pinch Giant bike
THIEVES have pinched an expensive racing bike from an unlocked garage in Pakenham.
A Malouf Court unit was targeted by thieves who rode away with a $3600 Giant brand white racing bike between 10am on Saturday 23 May and 7pm on Monday 25 May.
Police urge homeowners to keep their property locked at all times.
