Shire band tours Austria, Italy

The group enjoyed scenic views in Saltzburg.

THE Cardinia Civic Concert Band has had another busy year participating in many community events including Australia Day, the Summer Music Series at Emerald Lake Park, Pakenham Show, regular citizenship ceremonies and
Anzac Day events throughout the shire.
The band also held its first car boot sale as well as two variety nights.
The highlight of the band’s calendar was their first overseas concert tour.
Touring through Austria and Italy, the Cardinia Civic Concert Band held 14 performances in internationally acclaimed venues including Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna and Hohensalzburg Fortress in Salzburg. A highlight for the 45
members on tour was the opportunity to perform alongside local bands in Salzburg and Binasco.
Their hospitality was second to none, and the group looks
forward to hosting them in Australia in the near future. The tour was a huge success and a credit to the dedication and talent of the local musicians.
For the first time this year, the annual concert was held in the Lakeview Room at the Cardinia Cultural Centre. The band performed to a record crowd and received many outstanding reviews from regular attendees as well as members of the community experiencing the band for the first time.
As the year draws to a close, the band is preparing for the Christmas season where they will be performing at the Pakenham, Lang Lang, Maryknoll and Beaconsfield candlelight carol services.
If you are interested in finding out more about the band or wish to join, see their website or visit their Facebook page. The band rehearses every Tuesday night at 7.30 at the Army Road Hall in Pakenham Upper and are always looking for
new members of all ages and abilities.
