Four outstanding student-athletes will lead Federation University Australia Berwick’s local sporting teams during 2017.
The university recently announced business students Joseph Connell and Lawrence Pierre as captains of soccer and basketball, respectively, along with Gemma Mintern and Avishka Randeni as leaders of the netball teams.
Avishka was also named vice-captain of the university’s basketball team.
A Tooradin local, Gemma, said participating in sport on campus was a great way to connect and make new friends.
“It’s a great way to meet students across the campus on a different level than my degree can offer,” she said.
“It also recognises the benefits of sport, recreation and fitness to a healthy university community as well as supporting health and fitness activities while studying,” Gemma said.
