SOUTH EAST JUNIORS

SEMI FINALS

UNDER 15s- PREMIER

The second week of the South East Juniors finals series brought about some stunning results, with the kids continuing to put everything on the line for their respective teams.

In the second semi-final of Under 15 Division 1, Berwick White defeated Beaconsfield Blue in a cracking contest at Shepley Oval, 9.5 (59) to 5.8 (38).

The game was even for the first time, but the Berwick side got the jump in the second quarter to surge clear despite the Eagles never giving in until the final siren sounded, and almost pinching a win with a brave display.

Up until the midway mark of the last quarter, the game was almost even, but a stunning three goal surge in the final 14 minutes gave Berwick a brilliant victory, and a big chance to claim a premiership.

On a great day for the winners, Brodie Fowkes was sublime with yet another three goals, while the likes of Miller Bergman, Josh Sawrey, Spencer Barlow and Blake Petherick were all outstanding.

For the gallant Eagles, Patrick Gerdan battled hard to slot two goals in a terrific effort.

As a result of the win, Berwick White advance to the grand final on 26 August.

Down at Officer, Beaconsfield White surged into the Under 15 Division 2 grand final after defeating Narre North Foxes, 4.15 (39) to 1.4 (10).

Collectively, both sides kicked 5.19, but it didn’t matter, with a cracking contest ensuring the crowd was entertained.

The Eagles couldn’t buy a goal in the first half to kick 0.7, and despite trailing by two points at half time, took the lead in the third with a 1.5 to 0.1 quarter.

Holding the Foxes goalless from there, the Eagles slotted three final quarter goals to surge clear in a mature performance.

In a highly valuable performance, young Thomas Robinson kicked two critical goals for the Eagles, while for the Foxes, Jake Goodes was the goal scorer and looked dangerous in the forward line.

Meanwhile, in the Youth Girls, Narre North Foxes broke clear in the final quarter to defeat Berwick, 4.6 (30) to 3.1 (19).

The Foxes trailed by three points at three quarter time, but kicked the final two goals of the game to earn a place in a preliminary final.

In the other match, Tyanna Smith booted an amazing six goals to see Beaconsfield advance to the next stage in a win over Beaconsfield Blue, 11.3 (69) to 2.3 (15).

Smith was incredible and took her tally to 50 goals in nine matches this season, and looms as a threat for their premiership chances.

In Premier 1, Beaconsfield Blue advanced through in a cracking win against Berwick Navy, 6.9 (45) to 6.4 (40).

After a see-sawing affair in which the Eagles trailed by nine at three quarter time, a two goal final quarter got the job done.

Endeavour Hills, meanwhile, knocked off Beaconsfield Gold in Premier 2, 9.13 (67) to 6.11 (47).

The Eagles actually trailed for most of the day, but rallied to storm home with a four goal final term, with Brodie McKenzie brilliant with two goals.

Trent Robinson slotted two for the Eagles.

And in Premier 3, Berwick Springs Green fired a powerful warning shot with a big win over Tooradin-Dalmore, 12.16 (88) to 1.3 (9).

The Seagulls stuck valiantly with the Springs for a quarter, but a powerful four quarter second term set up a 37 point half time lead.

With the likes of Nathan Rollens, Riley Hillman, Lachlan Barratt and Joel Hellier playing brilliantly, the Springs booked a grand final spot and look the team to catch.

For the Seagulls, James Cross kicked a goal and was named as the best.

UNDER 13s-14s

It was low scoring, but not any less entertaining, with Narre South Lions Navy defeating Beaconsfield Gold in the Under 13 Red semi at Pakenham, 1.10 (16) to 0.4 (4).

The Lions and Eagles were neck and neck for the first half, but the Lions broke clear courtesy of a third term goal to Jacob Noble – the only of the game – to set up the win.

In Under 13 Blue, Berwick Blue enjoyed a relatively comfortably win over Noble Park, 4.9 (33) to 3.1 (19).

While it took a half to shake off Noble, who were well led by the likes of Chloe Ferguson, Arveen Singh and Ciana Harrison-Wanganeen , Berwick surged clear with a 1.3 third quarter to ultimately steal the game away.

For Berwick, Brayden Saunders, Aiden De Santis, Baden Manson and Ryan Belbin all slotted goals.

And in Under 13 White, Officer Blue booked a grand spot after knocking off Hampton Park, 5.3 (33) to 1.2 (8).

Now to Under 14 Red, and Berwick White produced an amazing performance to defeat Beaconsfield Blue, 11.13 (79) to 1.2 (8).

With Jaxon Binns (four goals), Benzhamen Todd (three) and Elijah Roewer (two) slotting multiple goals, the Berwick team firmed as the team to beat.

The Eagles never stopped trying and can hold their head high, with Spencer Robertson booting a goal to finish his 58 goal year on a high.

In the other game, Pakenham Blue advanced through with a big win over Cranbourne Blue, 9.16 (70) to 4.2 (26).

The Lions got off to a terrific four goal start, and continued to keep the Eagles away despite them showing some great fight.

Logan Milligan slotted three to be among the best on the field for the Lions, and Luke Ryan was superb. For the Eagles, Kye Ristic, Ky Williams, Brodie Cox and Tom Clappers kicked goals.

In Under 14 Blue, a thriller saw Berwick Blue just overcome Endeavour Hills, 4.9 (33) to 4.7 (31).

Incredibly, the Eagles kicked the first four goals to be leading by 24 at half time, but Berwick fought brilliantly to draw within 12 at three quarter time with two unanswered goals.

In what was a tense final quarter, the Eagles were held goalless while Berwick slammed on two goals, and took the lead with only seconds left on the clock in a massive win.

For the winning side, Tom Lindsay was named best, while the likes of Evan Walker (two goals) and Lachlan Devenish were terrific. For the Eagles – who were brave all the way through – Ylben Muedini kicked two and Luca Agresta also kicked a goal.

Narre North Foxes, meanwhile, advanced through as well by defeating Kooweerup, 5.6 (36) to 3.7 (25).

The Demons and Foxes were virtually level at three quarter time before the Foxes – inspired by two goals to Liam Spinks – ran away with the game.

Lachlan Chase starred for Officer with two majors, while Riley Kerr kicked a classy goal for the Eagles.

Narre Warren won an absolute thriller against Noble Park to punch their ticket to the Under 11 White grand final.

The Magpies trailed by one-point at three quarter time, but held Noble Park scoreless in the final term to claim a one-point win, 1.3 (9) to 1.2 (8) in an enthralling battle. Mitch Toner kicked the crucial goal for Narre Warren, while Jackson Vassallo booted Noble Park’s only goal.

In an entertaining battle, Narre North Foxes Black defeated Cranbourne Blue in the Under 12 Red 2nd semi final, 4.10 (34) to 3.2 (20). The Foxes jumped out to a 16-point lead at the first break and the Eagles were unable to find their way back, despite a fourth quarter comeback.

Dominic Male was electric for the Foxes with two goals, while Noah Mraz and Austin Fardell kicked one goal each as Narre North won their way through to the grand final. Romeo Bellinvia, Jaydyn Anderson and Kurtis Tucker were Cranbourne’s goal-kickers.
