Baw Baw Shire Council introduced a Community Engagement Policy at it’s council meeting on Wednesday 24 February.

The policy aims to include the community in all aspects of the decision-making process.

The community can expect to be consulted on matters of policy, strategies and other decisions in the form of surveys, online polls, focus groups and panels.

Baw Baw Council has put this policy together under the new Local Government Act 2020 which requires all Victorian councils to establish a community engagement policy before 1 March.

“We’d like to thank all of the community members who took the time to provide their feedback on the draft policy during December,” Mayor Cr Danny Goss said.

“This policy outlines our commitment to making sure our decisions reflect our community’s priorities and meet their needs, and we’re putting it into practice immediately as we start developing the Community Vision.”

The community vision is a chance for community members to share their own vision for the Baw Baw Shire over the next 30 years.
