Kuipers creams them at Drouin

Wednesday

A total of 78 players took part in Wednesday’s Stableford competition in windy conditions again. Standout for the day was Alan Kuipers who scored an impressive 45 points and won C Grade.

Shane Gorman was the other player to score in the 40’s for the day, winning B Grade with 40 points. A Grade winner was Ian Urquhart with 38 points.

Down the lines went to; Noel Brereton 39, Tony Macquet, Benjamin Ayache, Noel Robertson, David Axford, Ian Bertolotti 38 and Alan Bright 37.

Nearest the pins: Ian Urquhart 5th, Steven Titford 8th, William Toogood 10th and Noel Robertson 14th.

Saturday

A great field of 113 players teed it up for Saturday’s Stableford competition in perfect conditions for golf.

A Grade saw Craig Armstrong shoot two birdies and an eagle on the back nine to win with 39 points. Durat Perrin did the opposite with a fabulous front nine of 25 points and with a steady back nine won B Grade with 43 points.

C Grade saw the best score of the day for Jex Mitchard, with three birdies on his card which led to scoring an excellent 45 points.

Down the lines went to: Gordan Warren, Anthony Appleby 42, Ian Bertolotti, Richard Ford, Glenn Robinson, Mick Wardle 39, Andrew Kincaid, Tony Kiezenberg, Graeme Alexander, Roger Boyle and Alan Bright 38.

Nearest the pins went to: Graeme Alexander 5th and 14th, Raymond Haley 8th and Jex Mitchard 10th.

Next week’s competitions are Stableford on Wednesday and a Four-Ball Best-Ball Multiplier on Saturday.

DROUIN LADIES

Today is a two-person Ambrose event, the final event before the official beginning of the competition season on February 1.

Opening day of the year will be an individual stableford event. The Downtowner Cup has concluded and winners will be announced on Monday 31 January at the Downtowner lunch.

Saturday January 22 was an individual stableford event won by Glenda Warren (18) with 41 points. Runner up was Wendy Hitchins (21) on 38 points, from Shirley Roberts (11) and Valerie Crow (30) both on 36 points.

Summer match play competition concludes on February 1 with the finals of A and B Grades to be played on that day.
