DROUIN GOLF

Drouin Golf Club hosted its annual Guest Day on Saturday with numerous members inviting friends from other clubs to join in the stableford competition.

After a week off, the easterly wind was back again making scoring difficult.

Kevin Thorpe shot a very impressive one-under par round to win A Grade with a score of 37 points.

B Grade had four players’ top score with 36 points but it was a strong back nine from Andrew Pomeroy that saw him claim the win. C Grade saw one of our guests, Tom Boersma; shoot 39 points to card the best score for the day.

Down the lines went to Gary Cline 37, Glenn Robinson, Ben Jeffrey, Darren Arbon, Ryan Hammond, Neil Stephens and Geoff Closter with 36 points, Phil Mason and Richard Ford with 35 and Chad McKie with 34 points.

Nearest the pins went to Richard Ford 5th, Geoff Closter 10th and Kelly Belcher 14th.

Next week’s competitions for both Wednesday and Saturday are stableford.

Monday

Labour Day saw a medley stableford event contested with 26 players taking to the course. Paul Barratt stood out for the day with an exceptional 40 points to win the comp.

Down the lines went to Glenn Robinson 35 and Bob Simpson 34.

Wednesday

The mid-week comp was stableford this week and 76 players teed it up.

Peter Britchford top scored for the day with an impressive 39 points and was also the winner of C Grade.

B Grade saw Angus McArthur win by one point with a score of 38, and A Grade was a tight contest with three players tied on 36 points.

Phil Thomson was the eventual winner of A Grade on a count back.

Down the lines went to Benjamin Ayache and Graham Moon 37, Roger Crow 36 and Gilbert Davis 36, and Paul Barratt, Philippe Alleaume and Ian Urquhart on 35 points.

DROUIN LADIES

Drouin ladies played an individual Stableford event on Tuesday 15 March.

A Grade winner was Leanne Pollard (12) with 34 points and runner up was Judy Dixon (18) on 33 points.

B Grade winner was Ann Roberts (28) with 36 points and runner up was Helen Moon (25) on 35 points.

Down the line balls went to Pam Soutar (39), Jeannette Phillips (36) and Meagan Ford (25) all with 34 points on a countback

Nearest the pins went to 5th Sue Hatfield, 8th Robyn O’Brien, 10th Ann Roberts and the 14th Kay Grieve.

Saturday 19 March Ladies winner was Kay Feaver (15) with 39 points. Runner up was Robyn O’Brien on 30 points.

2022 CLARKS BLINDS AND SCREENS OPEN DAY RESULTS

Drouin welcomed players from all over the Gippsland region and beyond for their 4BBB Stableford Open Day.

A Grade winners were Helen Moon (Drouin) and Kay Dumbleton (Leongatha) with 43 points. A Grade runners up were Judy Dixon and Ann Roberts both from Drouin with 42 points.

B Grade winners were Yvonne Barrot and Carol Beard, both from Deep Creek Golf Club, with 45 points on a countback.

B Grade runners up were Sue Gosling and Chris Stevens both from Churchill /Monash GC also on 45 points.

Down the line balls went to Marg Murray (Drouin) and Sonia Roberts (Trafalgar) with 45 points and Carol Ronalds and Louise Ford (Berwick Montuna GC) also on 45 points.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Carol Beard (Deep Creek), 8th Kay Dumbleton (Leongatha), 10th Leanne Barker (Deep Creek) and 14th Shirley Roberts (Drouin).

The course is closed this Tuesday due to course works with the Ladies day to be transferred to Thursday 24 March.

Next Tuesday 29 March is a stableford multiplier event.
