Not a patch on Lorraine

LORRAINE Devine has taken out the State Challenge Award at the Country Women’s Association State Craft Exhibition held at the Longwarry Public Hall last weekend.
Secretary of the Pakenham CWA Branch, Lorraine won the much-coveted award for her hand-sewn patchwork waistcoat.
The competition on the day was tight as all the competitors were given the same type of material to work with.
Lorraine beat 29 other entries, including some beautifully crafted dolls, aprons, hand-worked hens and bags, to claim the title.
The exhibition was hosted by the East La Trobe branch of the CWA and saw competitors come from as far away as Deniliquin, Colac, Shepparton, Wodonga and Horsham.
In other news, the Pakenham CWA thanked the community for their support at their recent sausage sizzle.
The event was a success and the group plans to hold its annual spring stall on 10 September at Coles Plaza in Pakenham Place.
Plenty of baked treats, plants and handicrafts will be on sale at the stall.
