A POLICE siege in Pakenham last Friday ended with the arrest of a man wanted in relation to an armed robbery in Hallam last week.
Transit police executed a warrant for a Tipperary Circuit home about 10am on Friday 26 June over the armed robbery of a woman at Hallam railway station car park on Monday 15 June.
Police said a 24-year-old Pakenham man was arrested after the siege and taken in for questioning.
He was later charged with 14 offences including armed robbery and burglary.
The Gazette previously reported that a woman’s handbag was snatched at the railway station about 7.15am on Monday 15 June.
Police said the woman was getting out of her parked car when a man driving a silver sedan got out of his car and grabbed her handbag before fleeing.
Witnesses said police used a loud speaker to coax the man from inside the home in the Falling Waters Estate.
He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 2 July.
