Free storm debris clean-up

Fallen trees can be collected through the free storm clean-up service.

A FREE pick-up service is available for residents affected by recent storms in the Cardinia Shire and Yarra Ranges region.
From Monday 5 to Sunday 18 December 2016, residents can go online at stormcleanup.com.au or phone 9294 6363 to organise tree debris to be collected from their home address to prepare for the summer season.
The Yarra Ranges community is embarking on a storm recovery and clean-up campaign, encouraging residents to clean their properties of tree debris using the free pick-up service.
This is in response to the 9 October storms which significantly impacted the Yarra Ranges area, completely destroying more than 36 homes and damaging many more.
Pakenham SES received more than 80 calls that day, and the incidents were widespread – from Clyde to Berwick and down to Lang Lang.
The storm recovery community clean-up campaign is a community initiative proudly supported by Yarra Ranges Council, Knox City Council, Cardinia Council, SES, CFA, Victoria Police and Volunteering Victoria.
The initiative is focused on residents not only cleaning up their properties, but also offering a hand to neighbours to ensure the area is cleared and ready before the upcoming fire danger period.
This aims to ensure no members of the community are forgotten in the clean-up efforts and all homes are safe for the season.
Local community groups are in full support of the campaign, and have offered their support to assist residents that may not be able to clear their yards themselves.
Barry from Monbulk says, “Clearing all the tree debris and getting ready before the heat of summer kicks in, is a great initiative to ensure we are all stay safe this summer.”
The website, stormcleanup.com.au and 9294 6363 will be the point of contact, co-ordinating any extra assistance required in cleaning up and providing information on how best to clear tree debris.
Residents will be asked to provide photos of tree debris upon booking pick up and then leave it safely on the nature strip in front of their homes. Only tree debris will be picked up in this service; any hard waste, or regular garden waste must be collected in regular council pick-ups.
